Are your teeth badly stained or damaged? Porcelain veneers can help restore your beautiful, youthful smile.
At Halton Village Dental, we believe that every person and every smile is unique. That’s why we believe in customizing each treatment to bring out your own natural beauty. Although we carefully take note of our patients’ desires, we also pay attention to the way they smile and talk. A social smile does not go as deep as a real smile, and we want to make sure that both look amazing. Of course, functionality is our top priority. We want to be sure you don’t only look great, but that you can enjoy eating good food comfortably.
Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth-shaped disks that are custom-made in a dental laboratory to suit your teeth’s shape and color. Your dentist will then bond these porcelain veneers onto the front of your teeth to help craft a beautiful, bright and attractive smile.
However, we believe in perfect imperfections. That’s why we work to maintain the character of your smile, but a better version. Likewise, we do our best to improve on your smile without making our dental work too obvious. We want our veneers to look and feel like the teeth you were born with – but healthier and more beautiful.
Like most dental restorations, veneers may need replacement in years to come. However, they will give you a reason to smile for many years to come.
Porcelain veneers are used to cosmetically create a white, beautiful and uniform smile if you have:
We can create your new smile in two ways.
You will usually have to visit your dentist at Halton Village Dental twice in order to complete the process. Installing porcelain veneers usually requires no anesthesia.
The first step to your new smile starts with lightly shaping and buffing the surface of your own teeth in order to make space for the veneer. Next, your dentist will take an impression or mold of your teeth.
Together, you and your dentist will choose a color for your new teeth. We want to be sure you will fall in love with your new smile, which is why we will take a mold and create temporary veneers using a liquid composite. We’ll take some pictures and you can see how you like them. Remember, though, that these temporary veneers are slightly bulkier and not as sparkly white as your permanent porcelain veneers.
During your second visit to Halton Village Dental, your dentist will use a special liquid to clean your teeth. This is an important step in ensuring that your porcelain veneers achieve a lasting bond with your own teeth. Your dentist will apply bonding cement to your tooth before applying the veneer. Finally, a special light frequency will be applied to set and harden the bond.
As with natural teeth, it is important to follow the prescribed care instructions in addition to regular brushing, flossing, and dental visits to increase the longevity of your smile.
